Coronavirus Volunteers

As you will have seen in our latest news item above Southover Medical Practice is working with all the surgeries in Torbay to roll out our Covid – 19 vaccination programme at the English Riviera Centre (ERC). This will be for all Torbay residents and staffed by all surgeries, but we also need volunteers to help with many roles at the site. These roles range from traffic and patient direction in and around the ERC as well as helping patients to maintain social distancing.

This is a mammoth task and will take months to complete, but we are determined to try and protect not only the vulnerable living in our area, but also use this opportunity to try and help all of the residents of Torbay to try and get back to normal life again as soon as possible. Working together, we think we can do this, but not without your help….

The NHS has asked St John Ambulance to coordinate the training and deployment of volunteers who can help to ensure the smooth running of our covid vaccination programme. We are looking for people who can give up a day or more of their time between January and April 2021. PPE where required would be provided.

By helping us you will be supporting the biggest NHS vaccination drive in its history!

Covid-19 Vaccination Programme

GOOD NEWS ON COVID VACCINATIONS BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP

With nearly 140,000 patients having received a first or second vaccination at the ERC the service run by the Torbay G.P. Practices has been a great success. We are currently giving 2 nd doses to 40 year olds and have now moved to 18 -24 yr olds for first dose vaccinations.

BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP – we are discovering that for the younger cohorts we do not have up to date mobile numbers or e mails. In many cases they will have registered with us as children and being in good health not come to the surgery for many years.

IF YOU KNOW anybody 18 or above who hasn’t received a message about a Covid vaccination from us please can you ask them to make contact with us either by e mailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with their up to date details such as mobile number and e mail address, as an identifier can you mention for them to also put their date of birth, in the subject line ask them to put Update Contact Details or get them to phone after 10.00 a.m. on 01803 327100 to update us.

HOW TO PROVE YOU HAVE HAD A VACCIANTION

As Europe opens up many countries are allowing visitors provided, they can prove that they have 2 vaccinations and a negative Covid Test less than 72 hours before departure. Also, with the Governments “Learning to Live with Covid” you may find that you need to prove that you have been vaccinated for entry into many venues in future.

You can show you have received your Covid vaccinations via the NHS App (please note not the NHS Covid App). To load the NHS simply go to your App Store and download for free, you will need to do the full registration so have photo I.D. to hand when loading the App, a photo driving licence or Passport is best. Once you have loaded the App you will be able to see your vaccinations in both the section “Share Your Covid – 19 status” and the Immunisation section of “Your G.P. Health Record”.

If you already have the App and can’t see your vaccinations please let us know via e mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will look into it for you.

Registration Enquiries

From 8th January 2022 Southover Medical Practice will be capping our practice list and are therefore unable to take any new registrations other than from first degree relatives.

Due to our increasing list size, we feel that continuing to take more patients would jeopardise our ability to provide safe care to those

already registered at the practice.

Please see our website for more information or click here.

You can find details of other practices at www.nhs.uk or ask a member of staff for assistance

Thank you
